Walter Stockwell - USA/ Switzerland

For nearly 15 years Walter has been making a stunning array on knives inspired sources as diverse as the early American Bowie to the Caledonian Sgian Dubh and Dirk.

Originally creating knives using the stock removal method, Walter now forges most of his blades, helping to ensure each blade is unique and follows his own organic process of creating the blade which is followed through is his preferred choice of handle material which ranges from Fossil Mammoth Ivory, Walrus Ivory and highly figured hardwoods.

Each Stockwell knife is marked with a shooting star - a nod to his PhD in astrophysics.

I draw inspiration from early American bowie and using knives. I also draw inspiration from Scottish culture. My wife is Scottish, and we visit her family there every year. The museums there are full of beautiful swords and dirks.

have a PhD in from UC Berkeley.
